Presentation is the other half of cooking; it can taste amazing but if it lacks in presentation it can be the downfall of a great idea. However, if it tastes good and looks great then it will make a complete dish. It is also the first impression when you get the food.
The basic steps of presentation are giving the dish some height using the right plates. I like white plates because it's kind of like a blank canvas you see the true beauty of the food. But you can get away with different colours when you are cooking Mediterranean food. You also can recreate the dish in crazy ways to give it a more aesthetically pleasing sense. You also have to keep your dish nice and neat as well as keeping it in the centre; if it's everywhere it will look messy. You can do many different things with sauces like dots, streaks and pools that you put the dish over.
